Social

A major concern facing our family members is isolation.

We have received funding from the Oakville Community Foundation for programs and general support.

Programs are open to the entire community and all abilities individuals in our programs (with a developmental disability) are given paid leadership roles.

The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services has provided support for a community facilitator to work with the Oak Park Family Group (OPFG).

Our community facilitator works with individuals moving into homes of their own to help them find valued social roles, one individual at a time based on their interests and skills. The OPFG and the facilitator meet regularly, both formally and socially to support one another and to share successes and challenges.
